š When Goals Change: Growth and Purpose
Goals arenāt meant to stay the same, they grow as you grow. Learn how to reflect, reset, and align your purpose to become the athlete youāre meant to be.

š° COLLEGIATE ELITES WEEKLY
Issue 019 ā October 21, 2025
Most athletes set goals, but few stop to ask if those goals still fit who theyāre becoming.
As you train, grow, and gain experience, your goals should evolve too.
Because the same target that once pushed you might one day hold you back.
Growth isnāt just hitting goals, itās learning when to update them.
š THE EVOLUTION OF GOALS
Goals arenāt meant to stay the same forever, theyāre meant to grow with you. Your goals should reflect who you are right now, not who you were last season.
When you first start out, your goal might be making the team.
A year later, it might be earning a starting spot.
Then, it becomes leading the team.
Eventually, maybe itās helping others get where you were.
Thatās not losing focus, thatās progress.
š PURPOSE CHECK: WHY DOES YOUR GOAL EXIST?
Before you reset your goals, pause and ask: Whatās the purpose behind it?
Is it to prove something?
To improve something?
To grow into something?
Because the why drives the how.
If your reason is weak, your commitment will be too.
But when your āwhyā is strong, even bad days make sense.
š£ļø Purpose fuels consistency. Without it, goals can fade fast.
š§© REASSESS. RESET. REBUILD
Elite athletes donāt just train, they reflect.
Hereās a simple 3-step reset to make sure your goals still fit your direction:
REASSESS: Whatās changed since you set this goal?
New skills? New priorities? New challenges?RESET: Does this goal still inspire you?
If not, adjust it. Stretch it. Redefine it.REBUILD: What habits or mindset shifts support your new focus?
Maybe that means more precision, a sharper focus.
Channeling your drive toward what truly matters.
Resetting goals isnāt starting over, itās staying aligned.
š§ Pro Tip: Donāt wait for the offseason to rethink your goals. Every few weeks, take five minutes to ask yourself:
āDoes this still matter to me?ā
āDoes this challenge match where Iām at now?ā
That small check-in can be the difference between going through the motions and growing with intention.
šÆ FINAL THOUGHT
Your goals should move as you evolve and grow as an athlete. The best athletes donāt just chase goals, they update them to align with where theyāre at in their journey.
Stay curious. Stay aligned. Keep evolving.
