✋ Stop Cutting Reps

It doesn’t always look obvious, but cutting reps shows up in your performance. If you want to separate, your standard has to be higher.

Issue 045 — April 21, 2026

Let’s be direct.

If you’re cutting reps, you’re limiting how far you can go.

And it doesn’t always look obvious.

It shows up in:

Rushing through drills
Half-finishing movements
Counting reps that weren’t clean
Talking instead of working
Letting bad reps slide and still calling it “done”

It looks like training.

But it’s not.

It’s just checking a box.

And just checking boxes does not lead to real improvement.

🔒 INTENT IN EVERY REP

Reps are where progress happens.

But only if they’re done with intent.

A lot of athletes focus on finishing:

Getting through the set
Getting through the workout
Getting through the session

But finishing isn’t the goal.

Execution is.

Because 10 correct, focused reps will always beat 20 rushed ones.

When reps get sloppy, their purpose is lost.
And over time, that shows up in your performance.

The athletes who improve the fastest don’t chase completion.

They chase quality.

If a rep isn’t clean, they reset.
If it’s not right, they don’t count it.

That’s the standard.

⚠️ WHAT CUTTING REPS ACTUALLY COSTS YOU

Cutting reps holds back your progress.

The last few sets when your focus starts to fade
The moments where your form is tested
The reps that require you to reset and lock back in

That’s where growth happens.

So when those reps get skipped or rushed, the opportunity goes with it.

And instead of shrinking, the gap between you and other athletes grows.

🏁 THE STANDARD THAT SEPARATES YOU

You are not just competing with your team.
You are not just competing with your league.

You are competing with athletes you will never see.

And the ones who want to get to the next level, are not cutting reps.

They’re staying after practice
They’re fixing mistakes immediately
They’re repeating reps until they’re right
They’re training with urgency and focus

So while some athletes are getting through workouts…

Others are getting ahead.

That difference compounds.

If you want to play at the next level, the standard is clear:

Reps are done with intent
Reps are done all the way through
Reps only count when they’re done right

No shortcuts
No wasted reps
No pretending

Do it right.

Or it doesn’t count.

🎯 FINAL THOUGHT

At the end of the day, it comes down to reps and the standard you choose to hold.

That’s what separates you.

And while some athletes are rushing through workouts…

Others are building an edge.
