💪 Ready to Compete
You can’t control every part of the game. But you can control how you show up. Stay ready. Keep competing.

📰 COLLEGIATE ELITES WEEKLY
Issue 056 — July 7, 2026
Every coach has felt it.
One team looks ready.
The other looks like they’re still trying to wake up.
You can see it in their movement.
Their communication.
Their body language.
Their urgency.
One team is attacking.
The other is reacting.
The scoreboard might still be 0-0.
But you can already tell who’s ready to compete.
🎯 CONTROL THE CONTROLLABLES
Competition doesn’t always unfold exactly how you imagined.
A referee misses a call.
You make an early mistake.
Your opponent makes a big play.
The momentum shifts.
You and your team are tested.
But none of those things decide your response.
The best competitors understand that every game presents two choices.
You can spend your energy focused on things you can’t control.
Or you can spend it competing.
Focus on what’s within your control:
Your preparation.
Your effort.
Your communication.
Your body language.
Your focus.
Your response.
Everything else?
Let it go.
Keep competing.
Focus on the things that actually help you win
⚡️ STAY READY
Great competitors don’t wait until the game starts to become competitors.
They practice with urgency.
They sprint between drills.
They communicate.
They stay engaged when they’re tired.
They compete during warmups.
So when the lights come on…
Nothing changes.
They’re simply doing what they’ve trained themselves to do.
They don’t need to flip a switch, they’ve already built the habit.
Readiness isn’t something you find.
It’s something you build.
💥 KEEP COMPETING
Athletes who trust their preparation compete differently.
They don’t play cautiously.
They’re aggressive.
They’re decisive.
They pressure their opponent.
And when something goes wrong…
They don’t stay there.
They reset.
They move on.
They keep competing.
That doesn’t mean they’re never nervous.
It means they trust the work they’ve already put in.
Confidence isn’t believing everything will go your way, it’s trusting yourself to keep competing when it doesn’t.
That’s what readiness looks like.
Not perfection.
Presence.
💭 FINAL THOUGHT
You can’t control every bounce.
You can’t control every call.
You can’t control every outcome of the play.
But you can control whether you show up prepared, focused, and ready to compete.
Before your next practice or game, ask yourself one question:
If someone watched me for the first two minutes… would they know I came ready?
Because before anyone knows the score, they can already tell who’s there to compete.
Stay ready.
Keep competing.
Be Elite.
